Hello and thank you for visiting my website.
How did I become interested in Reflexology?
I think I’ve always been interested in people, their stories and experiences and how I can help them. My first job was as a reporter on a regional newspaper where I loved learning about the lives of people in the community. My interest in complementary therapies was sparked around this time as whenever my editor needed someone to visit a new therapist in town I was always the first to volunteer. I was curious about the ways therapies like acupuncture and aromatherapy could affect our health and emotional wellbeing.
Moving on, I spent several years teaching in a secondary school, a busy environment where I saw the effects stress can have on the body and how, when left unchecked, it can lead to a number of symptoms and disease. When I moved back to Cornwall in 2002 I decided to join an evening class in Reflexology. I found it fascinating but after completing my Level 3 diploma, I only had time to practise on friends and family as I was still teaching full-time.
However, while I was pregnant, I turned to Reflexology for help. I suffered with severe morning sickness in both my pregnancies but during my second I contacted a reflexologist and found relief through her treatments. I continued receiving regular reflexology throughout that pregnancy and I really feel it contributed to the very calm and safe home birth that I wanted.
My work
After I had my children, I decided to take the plunge and change my career and I came across the Centralia Reflexology Mastership (Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology). This is the highest reflexology qualification you can gain in the UK and means I am trained to work with clients with specific medical conditions. I spent a year completing my training at the Reflexology Academy in London, under the tuition of renowned reflexologist Hagar Basis, and opened my own clinic in Cornwall.
I have a particular interest in reflexology for stress relief and reflexology for women and children's health. I work with many clients who are experiencing hormonal problems, fertility issues and pregnancy ailments. My approach is person-centred and empathetic, taking time to get to the root causes of your concerns to help you to improve your health and overall sense of well-being.
I am passionate about learning and strive to keep my training up-to-date, regularly attending courses with the very best teachers in the field.
